Professional ExperienceRichard Piper is the Senior Consultant of Weatherproofing Services. He has over 35 years of experience in all facets of building envelope design and construction, including investigations of water leakage and other failures in building exterior walls, windows, and roofs, review of building weatherproofing design, design of remedial work, establishment of quality standards for major materials and systems, and litigation support.
Prior to joining T & L, Mr. Piper was consultant and architect in private practice as well as with several other professional firms. He has performed investigations involving problems with wood siding, brick, and concrete masonry, precast concrete, exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), windows, roofing, flashings, sealants, and exterior wall coatings in high-rise and low-rise building projects. He has performed third party design reviews relating to the use and performance of these materials, and he has been responsible for the design, detailing, and preparation of contract documents for remedial work on many difference wall systems. He also served as architect with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Communities and Development for 13 years where he was responsible for developing design and materials standards for use on new construction and capital improvement projects.
Mr. Piper has provided litigation support services to projects involving masonry construction, EIFS, roofing, flashings, sealants, fireproofing, window systems, architectural documents, and contract administration.
