DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS LABORATORY

Manage a team of technicians working in an in-house laboratory and conducting field tests on commercial buildings in the metro Boston and New England area. A sample of laboratory testing services provided include concrete compression tests, concrete/precast concrete inspections, masonry inspections/testing, proctor tests.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for running the day-to-day scheduling and supervising of lab staff
  • Responsible for securing work for lab, preparing proposals, reviewing and signing lab contracts
  • Coordinate services, quality control, and training of Construction Materials Laboratory staff, both in-house and in-field
  • Responsible for interpreting and endorsing/signing reports and test results according to national industry standards
  • Ensures laboratory services meet high standards of practice and compliance
  • Coordinates with engineering and finance teams
  • Reports directly to the Company President

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Professional Engineer registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with minimum of five years of experience in construction engineering, construction materials testing, or structural engineering OR BS in Engineering, Materials Science, or Construction with three years of experience in a managerial position performing tests on concrete and concrete materials, including two years as a laboratory technician/supervisor OR eight years of soil/concrete and asphalt field and laboratory testing experience, including five years as a technician/supervisor
  • Familiarity with Mass State Building Codes
  • Must be able to interpret the results of tests on concrete and concrete aggregates
  • Ability to be a dedicated team player with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass background tests.
  • Must have a valid U.S. drivers’ license with a clean record and a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must be authorized to work in US.
